01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
02 - In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
03 - In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 to 4 minutes.
04 - Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in the vanilla extract.
05 - With the mixer on low speed, add the dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
06 - Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
07 - Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
08 - Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
