Mini Grilled Cheese Hawaiian Rolls (Printer-Friendly)

Soft Hawaiian rolls stuffed with cheddar, buttered and grilled or baked until golden for gooey, shareable sliders.

# What You'll Need:

→ Bread and Dairy

01 - 12 Hawaiian rolls
02 - 6 slices cheddar cheese, halved
03 - 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

→ Optional Add-Ons

04 - 6 slices Swiss cheese, halved
05 - 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
06 - 1 tablespoon chopped chives or parsley

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F or heat a large skillet over medium-low heat.
02 - Without separating the Hawaiian rolls, slice them horizontally to create a top and bottom slab.
03 - Place the bottom slab cut-side up on a cutting board. Arrange cheddar slices evenly over the rolls. Add Swiss cheese if desired. Place the top slab back over the cheese.
04 - Spread softened butter evenly on both top and bottom exteriors of the assembled rolls.
05 - For skillet: Place the entire sandwich slab in the skillet and grill for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted. For oven: Arrange on a baking dish and bake 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is gooey and the top is golden.
06 - Remove from heat and allow to cool briefly. Cut or pull apart into 12 mini sandwiches.
07 - Optionally, brush tops with Dijon mustard and sprinkle with chopped chives or parsley before serving.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The sweet rolls crisp up into the dreamiest bite with barely any fuss—keep that between us.
  • No matter how chaotic your schedule is, this comes together so fast it feels like a trick.
02 -
  • If you rush the slicing, the rolls can tear and make assembly tricky—take your time.
  • Pressing too hard in the skillet flattens the sandwiches, so go easy for fluffier results.
03 -
  • Buttering both sides takes these from tasty to irresistible, so don’t skip it.
  • For the best cheese pull, use cheese straight from the fridge so it melts evenly as the bread browns.
